A sexual recovery plan is a written guideline of the behaviors that do and do not work for us as sexual compulsives. The need for such a plan is based on the idea that we act upon our compulsions without thought, and the plan, therefore, helps us identify precisely what needs to be changed in our lives.

If you hold a Literature service position at an SCA New York meeting and need to order additional literature, please send an email through this contact form.

    Am I Sexually Compulsive?

Members of SCA have learned through sharing their experience, strength, and hope with each other  that sexual compulsivity is a disease.  This disease has three dimensions: physical, emotional, and spiritual.  Physically, we engage in sexual behaviors that we know are not healthy for us or that place us in legal, physical, or spiritual jeopardy.  Emotionally, we experience a "high" in contemplating and engaging in the "acting out" behavior, followed by an emotional let-down after acting out has concluded.  Spiritually, we feel disconnected from others, especially from relationships we want to be "healthy" ones.

SCA members have devised the Twenty Questions to help newcomers decide whether they are sexually compulsive.

SCA members have found that we share certain characteristics in common.  Click here to see those characteristics.

    Newcomers' Welcome

If you are new to SCA, welcome. It is suggested that those new to the fellowship attend six different meetings within your first two weeks before deciding if SCA is right for you. Meetings have different sizes, topics, formats, and different people. Newcomers are encouraged to attend meetings listed as ‘Beginners’ meetings in order to familiarize yourself with the program; however, you are welcome to attend any SCA meeting at any time. We are glad you are here. Keep coming back.
